Ok, it’s time for my ramblings on the teams and who I’m planning on supporting at Rock League.
First, I love the mix of “experience” & “youth” in these squads. Xenia Schwaller, Anton Hood, etc. are going to learn so much from Homan and Edin. That is good for curling and surely not an accident. That’s what makes this league AWESOME.
Let’s look at the teams:

Alpine Curling: Patz & Miskew – two of the best women’s curlers in the world right now. On the men’s side, Eriksson – arguably in the top 3 men’s thirds in the last 15 years. Solid mixed doubles pairing of Patz and Michel. Decent squad, but not my number one, even with Hammy and Eve on board.

Frontier Curling: Constantini and Hardie the stand out players here. Hard not to back a team with Hardie in it, but I think overall they lack depth.

Maple United: Homan has been untouchable for 2 years, but will she miss her teammates? Peterman and Gallant, one of the top mixed doubles pairings. How can you not like someone called Colton Flasch? Glenn Howard as GM. This squad will be near the top, but not my choice.

Shield Curling: Wow. Einarson, Fluery, Knochenhauer, Howald and Powers. Possibly the strongest women’s side. But don’t think I’ve forgiven Jacobs for beating Murdoch in the 2014 Olympic final so for that reason, I’m out. Sorry Brad, although I’m sure you don’t care. Which is fine.

Typhoon Curling: Similar to Frontier, not sure they have the same depth as other teams. Hasselborg, Kim & Edin are all fantastic on their day and Lammie is a powerhouse but I’m just not sure about this squad.

Northern United: What’s not to like here? Two top mixed doubles pairings in Wrana/Wrana & Dodds/Mouat. Brydone, great player and lovely guy. Skaslien, McManus, Schwaller, Sesaker are quality players. The legend Svae as GM.
Maybe if I was Canadian Maple United would edge it. But I’m not. And anyway Northern United have a better logo. So, Let’s go Northern!
