As 2025 comes to an end, I’ve put together a listing of where our teams are featuring at the end of the year in the world tour rankings.
At this point of the season, the total points and rankings are based on year-to-date points (YTD)from a team’s top 7 results, plus 12.5% of last season’s total points.
Starting off on the men’s side. Scotland have 6 men’s teams listed in the rankings.
#1 in the rankings are current world champions, Team Mouat having held the top spot since 26th August 2024. The Mouat machine knocked off Italian, Joel Retornaz after winning back-to-back events in Baden and the ESS in Stirling and hasn’t looked back since.

This season the team has won 4 out of their 9 events, reaching the semis finals of all the other events, including a bronze medal at the Europeans in November, bar 1 quarter final finish at the Shorty Jenkins. Team Mouat are selected as Team GB representatives at the upcoming Milano/Cortina Winter Olympic Games in February and will have their eyes on that gold medal they so closely missed out on 4 years ago in Beijing.
Team Whyte feature at #5. A mixed bag season so far for the Whyte boys. Missing regular second player, Duncan McFadzean, through injury, the team have adapted well to their new addition of Craig Waddell. 1 title claimed at the Stu sells Oakville tankard back in September and two appearances in GSOC finals. A semi-final finish at the western showdown added to their results and quarter final finishes in 4 other events with 1 DNQ at the GSOC Co-Op Tour Challenge.
A new look Team Waddell have started off this season with a consistent climb of the rankings. Starting off this season at #19, Kyle and his teammates have risen as high as 9th in the world and will be heading into 2026 at #11. A change in the line up from last season, Kyle added 3 new players to make his team a squad of 5. Kyle and brother Craig with additions of Mark Watt, and powerhouse front end Angus Bryce and Blair Haswell. Soon to be a squad of 4 again as brother Craig moved to Team Whyte in place of injured Duncan.
The team have yet to win a title but with a 2nd place, two semi-finals and three, quarter final finishes the team have earned their way up into the top 16 and look to be a regular in the Grand Slam of Curling circuit.
Our 4th men’s team in the WTR is Team Bryce. Sitting at #22, the only team outside of British curling featured in the rankings. The self-funded team have featured in no less than 10 events this season, winning two and five quarter final finishes. Failing to qualify at the Masters Tier 2 GSOC, Brycey decided to bring home the Grand slam of Karaoke trophy instead, as you do!
Our Scottish junior champs are next in the ranks, Team Carson. These young lads are at #40 in the world and have competed in 6 men’s tour events so far this season and lifted the Takeout Trophy at the start of December, qualifying for the playoffs in 4 of the others. Of course, these young guys are still plying their trade in the junior circuits and won the Scottish juniors in Aberdeen. They will head to the world juniors in March for a 4th time, hoping for gold in their last year of juniors as a team.
Our last men’s team is Team Craik. Currently sitting at 97th in the rankings, it hasn’t been the best start of James and his new squad.
The departing of Mark, Angus, and Blair to team Waddell, left James starting from scratch. New team members and newest British curling athletes, Fraser Swanston, Jake McDonald, and Rory McNair have joined up with James in what could be another high-ranking team in the future. The team have played in 4 tour events this season but haven’t had it plane sailing. Lead, Rory McNair suffered a season ending injury early on and the team pulled in a sub for 2 of their events, finishing 3rd at the U25 GSOC event in October. An unsettled couple of months, this team have yet to show off their full potential.
Moving over to the women’s side now, our top-ranking team is Team Morrison. At 17th in the world, the girls’ team are hovering around the that top 16 area and have featured in two of the GSOC events and 1 of the Tier 2 events, coming second. Their top event of the season so far was the European championships, where they returned home with a silver medal. Team Morrison are the women’s representatives for the upcoming Winter Olympics and will use that silver medal to spur them on to challenge for that top spot in Italy.

Team Henderson sit 46th, their top finish for the season came in Tallin at the International Challenger, where they were narrowly beaten in the final. The girls also featured in two GSOC events, the Masters Tier 2 (DNQ) and the U25 GSOC event and were knocked out in the semi-finals.
The following three Women’s team, Laurie(#186), Soutar(#241) and Archibald (#254) are all Junior teams playing most of their events on the junior circuit and having great success there.
Laurie and Soutar both featuring in their only women’s tour event, the Euro Super Series back in August.
While Team Archibald won the Scottish Juniors in November and headed to the World Junior Bs in Finland. A good week for the girls, falling just short of the bronze medal and promotion to the A’s.
It’s clear to see that our little nation punches way above its weight, success, and depth currently on the mens side with plenty young potential heading through on the women’s side. We can hold our heads high.
I congratulate all teams, from our top elite teams to our club curlers, from our eldest masters to our youngest juniors, on every success so far this season. Let’s carry it on into 2026 and finish this season off in style with more podium finishes and silverware in our cabinets.
Good Luck and Good curling!
